"LAB59 is a moment"
A moment when design and architecture take on new meanings. Space is no longer a linear perception. At Lab59, The journey becomes so much more than mere back and forth.
We take you on a journey of space and time, where something ends and something begins, a threshold of an unknown universe, where we explore, self-reflect and loop on through infinite space & rhythms.
Located on a coastal city, this building was designed to commemorate the work of the late Zaha Hadid. The building is a mixed use facility, consisting of 13 floors semi-serviced apartments. The owners have been exposed to Lab59 Architects through social media and learning of our experience and work in various designs. A linear Typology was chosen for the Architecture, where a series of zones were placed along a pathway. Most of the zones are directed towards the desert view and have a relationship with the surrounding outdoor landscape through panoramic openings, skylights & courtyards that highlights the connection that the guest house establishes with nature. The building is divided into three masses “Men, Common & Women” organized under one shading roof. The concept develops in two levels, main functions in the ground floor such as ‘majles/Dining’ and secondary facilities in basement. On the other hand, landscape plazas were added with different levels which contributed in the privacy of some zones and those Landscape features extends inside the building connecting the indoor with the outdoor offering stunning lookout to the long desert landscape views, natural water pools and hills.
